in the summer of 2006, raquelle dreamed of a dress, which she then had made by a seamstress friend. passing an outdoor cafe in the west village of new york city, she caught the attention of a perfect stranger dining outdoors. upon seeing the dress, the woman ordered 3 of them on the spot!
raquelle headed north to the best fabric store in the city, planning only to purchase the necessary fabric for the unexpected order.
intoxicated by the luxurious silks, breezy cottons, and dripping jerseys, she couldn’t resist walking away with enough fabric to create more of the designs from her imagination.
that very fabric was spun into the first collection.
